Category: Celtic/Tribal

These designs are steeped in history.  The knotwork of the ancient Celts have provided a beautiful design style for Irish, Scottish and Welch for untold generations.  The stark black work of the tribal designs can be dated back to prehistoric man and traveling predominantly up through the ages within the Island communities.  I have taught myself to design both styles of artwork, the Celtic takes a lot of math and serious preparation before the appointment, where the Tribal designs are often done freehand, by me, right on the skin. Click image to view gallery

This category has taken on a life of its own.  No longer are you limited to crudely sketched designs of Hula girls and Geisha on the forearms of sailors.  Pin-ups have evolved into lifelike tributes to the beautiful women of all eras.  I believe that most people will agree, men and women alike, that the female form is one of the most beautiful and artistic things out there.  It is my extreme pleasure to share this with my customers.  You will find that just as many women collect pin-up tattoos as men. This has to be my favorite medium to work with.  I love the amount of depth and realism I can put into a tattoo by simply using varying shades of black.  The stark contrasts to the soft shading can really bring life to a custom tattoo when it is all healed up.  Click image to view gallery

Artwork from the East has a long history in tattooing as well.  There was a time when the Emperor banned all subjects from wearing the finely detailed kimonos so as not to upstage him, so the subjects turned to artwork upon the skin.  Their artworks become works of magic in their detail and color.  The  Emperor was not pleased with this outcome either and outlawed Tattooing as well, which brings us to the time of the Yakuza.  Upon gaining admittance to their elite group, you had to prove your lifelong loyalty to their illegal way of life by getting your entire body tattooed.  Although it is no longer illegal now, it still remains a banner of your self confidence and dedication.  Through all of this, we are blessed to have this style of artwork pass through the ages and is now proudly replicated and displayed all over the world.
